Hallway tribes

An interesting post on Seth Godin's blog about the importance of events giving people space to meet and interact and do stuff together. A bit like the old truth that more business gets done in the chat after the meeting than in the meeting itself.

"...most of the time we don't see the obvious opportunity--if you intentionally create the connections, you'll get more of them, and better ones too. If the hallway conversations at a convention are worth more than the sessions, why not have more and better hallways?"

Conferences are normally marketed through the quality and quantity of the speakers. Getting good speakers is relatively easy, 'creating better hallways' is the real value add and where the fun is to be had in organising and attending this type of event.
