Given how much darkness we have in the UK it has always seemed strange that we don't have more light festivals, lantern events and the such like. I'm sure some of that has to do with religion.

Artichoke the people who produced the mechanical elephant in London and the big spider in Liverpool. Have just created an amazing winter light spectacular - Lumiere Durham.

What I particularly like about it is that in the same way that the Taiwanese and Chinese examples seem to reflect their culture, Lumiere Durham seems particularly English.
